The Yorkshire Awards
This
project was undertaken for Keyspan
Technology Limited.
Existing content was revised in consultation with Keyspan Technology,
and restructured in order to present an improved and more efficient
user experience.
The site was designed to incorporate a new look based on existing printed material. It’s construction is standards compliant XHTML 1.0 Transitional utilising CSS alone to control visual structure. Additionally the approach utilises a fluid design were content will reflow as the user adjusts the size of their browser window.
Efforts were made to serve the content in an accessible form, such that each page passes all the automated tests for WAI-AAA.
Some pages continue to utilise legacy code (written in Chilisoft ASP) adapted for the new output requirements and hooking into an existing MySQL database for the news pages and the nominations system. All other pages are managed in DreamWeaver MX2004 from a single template which includes template logic to control which menus appear on which pages.
