SSAFA Forces Help

SSAFA Forces Help Home Page Nov 2007 designThe relationship with SSAFA Forces Help dates back to 2001. Generally consisting of ongoing technical support and development with regard to the main web-site and a number of extranet sites. The main site is managed through a single DreamWeaver Template and utilises Template logic to control and pre-render the static pages of the site. ASP is used to implement many of the dynamic features where database and email integration is required.

Redirector

ASP code within the index page tests the sub-domain used to get to the site and re-directs if necessary to other micro-sites. Predominantly used to re-direct users to their local branch page - keeping the url short and memorable.

Recruitment

Users can register their email address via a web-form for recruitment alerts. They are then sent a confirmation email, containing details to either confirm or remove their subscription. When the administrator adds a vacancy and publishes, she can choose to trigger an email alert to all users subscribed to that job-type.

Extranet

A resource-centre accessed through HTTPS contains files uploaded to a folder structure on the server with no database involvement. FSO is used to manage the folder structure with admin uploads and user downloads managed through ASP scripts and the ASPUpload component.

Confidential support line

Provides communication between people in need, and those manning the support service maintaining both the anonymity of the user and CSL consultant - neither party is identified in any way to the other.
